The Shreveport Convention Center is a newly constructed, 350,000 sq. ft. multi-purpose facility located in the heart of downtown Shreveport. The venue features versatile spaces with state-of-the art lighting and sound designed to accommodate tradeshows, conventions, meetings and other special events.

The convention center's main exhibit hall presented an acoustical design challenge. IT consisted of a 95,000 sq. Ft., column-free space with 30 foot ceilings, concrete floors and a metal roof deck. The highly reflective surfaces and open design would create and environment of high noise levels and reverberation without the proper acoustical treatment.

K-13 Black Spray-on insulation was specified at a thickness of 1 1/2" to achieve the desired acoustical absorption. The product was applied to the entire metal deck, which greatly enhanced the audible and visual performance of the convention center.

Construction was completed and the convention center opened for business in January 2006. The 1 1/2" application of K-13 created a comfortable environment with ambient acoustics. Speech is intelligible and the public address system can be clearly heard.
