The Taylor SportsPlex offers the opportunity for the residents of Taylor, a suburb of Detroit, to enjoy figure skating, hockey, indoor soccer, roller hockey and other recreational activities. The city wanted to rent space for other events like graduations, concerts, and conventions. They quickly realized they would need to improve the acoustics. They contacted Kolano and Saha Engineers, Inc. of Waterford, MI who recommended a .75 inch application of SonaSpray Arctic White to the 1.5” metal deck. Arctic White SonaSpray”fc” was chosen for its high light reflectivity and ability to reduce echo and reverberation. But there was a catch; the work had to be completed while the ice was installed and within 7 days. The job was completed in 6 days. At 3/4”, SonaSpray “fc” on a ribbed metal deck provides an NRC of .80.
